Title: SARK and Digium's ADA CTI
Post by: SARK devs on November 24, 2009, 03:41:06 PM
Hi

We've been playing with Digium's "ADA" (Asterisk Desktop Assistant) click-to-dial and pop-up windows software.  Seems to work quite well so we've put a guide in the wiki

Kind Regards

I am not sure the SarkPBX wiki guide is complete.

In manager.conf I also had to set bindaddr=0.0.0.0 in [general]
In the ada custom app I had to set include=>internal (not default)

I have also seen that the custom app must be [ada] in lowercase and not [ADA] in uppercase. The Digium admin guide is wrong apparently, although I haven't tested.

The ADA installer also installs an addon for firefox, but the maximum version number supported is 3.5. If you use a version later than this then you must edit C:\Program Files\Digium\ADA\Mozilla\install.rdf
There is a tag starting with <em:maxVersion>, and the version number is 3.5
Replace the version number with 3.5.7 (or possibly higher but I can only confirm it works with firefox up to 3.5.7)
You need to make this change immediately after installing ADA and before starting firefox.

This is all with latest ADA version 1.1 available here http://dl1.digium.com/ADA1.1/ADAInstall.exe (http://dl1.digium.com/ADA1.1/ADAInstall.exe),  Sail-2.4.1-6 and Asterisk14-1.4.28-88

Thank you very much for this.

Did you get the mozilla add-in to work?  We never did on the version we had.

Best

Yes, mozilla addon works, but you must make sure the max version number is equal to or greater than the version of firefox you are running before you start firefox after installing ADA. If you start firefox first, the addon is loaded and if it has the wrong max version set firefox will block it. The only way to get it to work then is to uninstall ADA, restart your machine, install ADA again and change the max version as previous post

Once working there is an ADA icon on firefox status line, and if you highlight a number on a web page and right click, the context sensitive popup menu allows you to dial using ADA or edit before dial. It also recognizes telephone numbers on the web page and turns them into a hyperlink that when clicked, rings the number via ADA

There is an addon for thunderbird as well. Max version is set in same file as previous post, a little further down in the thunderbird section. Setting is 3.01a so installed OK for me without changing it - I have thunderbird 3.01 currently. I assume same will apply if thunderbird is updated beyond this - will have to uninstall/reboot/install/change versions etc.

In thunderbird you can dial straight from the address books - phone numbers become hyperlinks. You can click to dial or right click and edit before dial. Doesn't seem to work within emails though - i.e. when viewing an email numbers aren't hyperlinked and the context menu has no dial option if you highlight a number.
