Title: Giving up on SME email
Post by: k_graham on December 01, 2009, 06:16:29 PM
We've been happily using SME since it was Esmith 4 but started to run out of space a couple months ago.
When updating to SATA drives a couple months ago I did a backup - clean install of 7.4 and restore.

1.
At that time I noticed running the test of internet connection "does not work"

However I could access internet, email is able to send to my personal online google account, we receive emails.
But we've been having troubles with LOCAL emails bouncing that are from our internet supplier

In addition
Cannot find a valid baseurl for repo: smeaddons
Error: Cannot find a valid baseurl for repo: smeaddons

Freshclam: update failure

rkhunter daily run failure

Is their a way to delete all updates and re-run YUM or anyu other suggestions.?

Thanks, Ken

Sorry I've tried filing a bug but I don't understand
The named tag                        to bugs               Commit

It doesn't accept input, seems to want a bug number but how do you get the bug number when thats the first screen to enter?

I did make some progress today - SME instructions are to not insert DNS server numbers, that it is smart enough to work without them. However I did add my ISP's DNS numbers as a trial today and was then able to have a reply that the Internet connection test DID Work.

I don't know why that is now required when it never used to be necessary. I'm not sure if its a SME update problem or a ISP change, or simply my error in entering info.

I've had the problem on 2 systems but same ISP. Are you able to have the Internet test work without adding in ISP DNS numbers?

I'm hoping that some items like updating of Clam will work again.
