Title: VMWARE timesync ?
Post by: fpausp on December 25, 2009, 08:32:21 PM
Hi,

I use sme 7.4 with vmware as host and ipfire (www.ipfire.org) as guestsystem.
My problem is the systemtime in ipfire is not in sync with the hostsystem.

I am looking for the right settings in the virtual machine's configuration file (.vmx).
Can anybody help me please ?

Best

This might get you started: http://kb.vmware.com/selfservice/microsites/search.do?language=en_US&cmd=displayKC&externalId=1006427

More detailed information can be found here: http://www.vmware.com/pdf/vmware_timekeeping.pdf

Code: [Select]
VMware Tools includes an optional clock synchronization feature that can check the guest operating system
clock against the host operating system clock at regular intervals and correct the guest operating system clock.

How can i install vmware tools on the host ?

vmware tools must be installed on ipfire, so you should ask this question to ipfire's support :-)

Moving to General Discussion as this concerns configuring IPFire which is not related to SME Server nor it's contribs.
