Title: USB disk message log
Post by: leiw on January 08, 2010, 04:59:23 AM
Hello

I inserted an USB SATA to USB2.0 adaptor (it has power supply) with 1TB Segate harddisk to smeserver 7.4. that not working.

I checked the /var/log/message as below:

Jan  7 22:49:23 server01 kernel: usb 8-1: new low speed USB device using address 2
Jan  7 22:49:23 server01 kernel: input: USB HID v1.10 Keyboard [CHICONY USB NetVista Full Width Keyboard] on usb-0000:00:1d.2-1
Jan  7 22:49:23 server01 kernel: usb 8-2: new low speed USB device using address 3
Jan  7 22:49:23 server01 kernel: input: USB HID v1.10 Mouse [USB Mouse] on usb-0000:00:1d.2-2
Jan  7 22:58:38 server01 kernel: usb 8-2: USB disconnect, address 3
Jan  7 22:58:41 server01 kernel: usb 2-6: new high speed USB device using address 4
Jan  7 22:58:46 server01 kernel: usb 2-6: control timeout on ep0out

Is it can't support by smeserver?

Thanks !

Hi leiw, see this http://wiki.contribs.org/SME_Server:Documentation:FAQ#Hard_Drives.2C_RAID.27s.2C_USB_Hard_Drives

I can't see that that deals anywhere with a 'control timeout' error message from the USB driver layer.

leiw, I'd say that your USB hardware might not be compatible with SME7 on your motherboard/BIOS.

Look here for more clues:
