Title: Imapsync entire email store to another server
Post by: markehle on January 11, 2010, 09:34:36 PM
Folks -
We, after many years of using SME, are going to switch to a hosted email solution (it was not my choice - they are screaming for something more Yahoo-like).

Our new vendor is having trouble making imapsync work, as I am not able to supply him with a username/password that will give him access to everyone's email.

What options do I have other than doing something like doing each account one at a time?

Thanks!

from imapsync FAQ:

Quote
Q. How to migrate from uw-imap with an admin/authuser account ?

R. Use
--user1="user*admin_user" --password1 "admin_user_password"

Starting from this, after a quick search with Google, I've found this (http://wiki.dovecot.org/Authentication/MasterUsers?action=show&redirect=MasterPassword) that could be interesting for you

Thanks, Stephano, but this doesn't seem to work. I put the admin user into /home/httpd/html/horde/config/config.php, and nothing worked. Is there any other way to pull this off?

No time - this has to be done tonight. We are only talking about 65 accounts - I think what I will do (unless someone
else has an idea before about 9:00pmEST) is to just change all the passwords to the same thing and let the vendor pull the accounts over one at a time.

Stefano - thanks for your imput!

Moving this topic to the General Discussion forum, it is more appropriate there. Thanks!
