Title: How to accept calls like 5000@pbx.myserver.com ?
Post by: soprom on January 17, 2010, 12:55:56 AM
I've read something about selintra not allowing calls like 5000@pbx.myserver.com coming from a softphone for instance.

Does this still stand?

HI Sophie

All SIP invites (dials) take the form extension@FQDN but I'm guessing you mean a remote softphone not normally attached to the Asterisk system in question.  Can you tell me a little more about what you wish to achieve?

Kind Regards

Hello!

Indeed, these calls would come from softphones not connected to my pbx (not a known account).
The intent is to receive "IP" calls instead of "DID" calls.
I kind of remember this was considered a security threat and I try to validate this.

As long as you are rouiting and terminating the inbound call on your pbx then it needn't be a security risk.  However, it is easy to get it wrong and inadvertently give the external phone privileges you didn't intend (like maybe dialtone), or leaving a door open for someone else to use your system without your knowledge.  If you can, then just get the remote phone to dial your inbound SIP-carrier number like everyone else.  It's much safer.

Kind Regards
