Title: refresh-ddns/update-dns error
Post by: compdoc on January 17, 2010, 06:51:41 PM
I get an email error once a week from my sme server:

"Cron <root@webserv> run-parts /etc/cron.weekly"

"/etc/cron.weekly/refresh-ddns:
Can't get External IP address at /etc/e-smith/events/actions/update-dns line 50."

I've searched through the bug reports and these forums, but don't see any solutions. SME is setup as server only with one network card. I have a dynamic IP address that doesn't change too often. Is there a setting I can change?

Thanks

I disabled the service. I don't need sme to update my ip for my dyndns.com service.

But if it's helpful to you, I looked at the values stored in the db with the command "config show DynDNS", and everything was correct.

It might be related: my efw firewall has a dyndns update service built in, and that stopped working too.

I use a custom domain name at dyndns.com. They host the dns records for my own domain name - its not one of their free ones.

By the way, I use their latest windows update client running on one of my servers, and that works well.

Maybe they've changed their site enough to break it?

I disabled the service.

How did it come to be enabled? It should be disabled in server-only mode.

As previously requested, please create a bug report containing full details of your problem.
