It backs up perfectly with an expiry of say 5, but after 5 days, all the emails start saying this.
Connecting to /mnt/backup
Expanding /etc/dar2/Testing template
Creating /mnt/backup/rplumbing-local.rburnsplumbing.com/Testing/db.zip
Expiring old backups
Executing pre-backup event
Verbose logging is off
Performing Testing backup
No terminal found for user interaction. All questions will be assumed a negative answer (less destructive choice), which most of the time will abort the program.

I'm using SME 8.0 beta 4, and I didn't want to use the regular Backup features because I needed to exclude all the .wtv files. Anything I can do? Through WinSCP I cant change the permission of the /mnt/backup/ file, it gives an error. I can't view the files through putty either. When I change the mount point, I don't get an error, but I can't change the permissions, say through WinSCP. Not real fluent on Linux or SME so take it easy on me.

Please keep in mind that SME Server 8.x is still beta and therefore contribs developers refrain from reworking their contribs. Once a RC is released this will change. You are advised not to use SME Server 8.x in production.

Explain to what medium you are backing up and how it is mounted. It seems that it was somehow possible to write the files there in the past.
I use dar2 backup as well (on SME Server 7) and have no issues. Looking at the output I suspect something has changed in between making it impossible for the backup to access the other files. Did you modify their ownership/permissions perhaps?

Alright, I did what was in the USB wiki. I plugged in usb. Deleted all partitions on /dev/sdc.
created new primary partition, didn't change any sector numbers, so im guessing it uses the whole drive. Made a mnt directory called backup. Went into fstab file through winscp, and put a mount option for /dev/sdc1 to mount to /mnt/backup. Configured dar2 to do a daily backup with expiry of 5, excluding .wtv files to the /mntbackup (no password) It was doing backups i believe for 5 days. Not sure, because i cannot view whats in company_backup. So then I umounted sdc1. Remounted to a new /mnt file called dar2. change fstab to say the same. Used putty under root, and typed in "mount -a". It mounted, and allowed me to see the sets of dar files in it. I tried to then do a DAR2 job with same settings, but to /mnt/dar2. Thats when I got the emails again. So then I tried to change permissions to the /mnt/dar2 file and got errors. Then I went into /dev/sdc1 and change permissions there, but no luck. So with some new instructions, I will reformat if I have to. Doesn't matter, I do have other backups through workstations. But I would like to have a daily backup. And although its a 500gb harddrive, I didnt want to run out of space, so I did Expiry 5, and its up to 77gb. Makes me feel I should have done expiry 10, but I feel my files will grow soon, and so will my backups

Please show us the mount commands... I guess the clue might be in them.

What else do you need, this is my fstab file
so when i did my umount, i used the pane usb disk. Its not competely functional in SME 8 beta 4, but it does the umount. When i do df -h the drive is gone. then when i do mount -a, its back at 77g used

Just got a positive email from remounting the usb disk under a diff mount point, and setting up the new DAR2 setting to the new mnt point. However, I checked USB disk in my server manager, and it now says that my usb disk, /dev/sdc1 is ext2? any idea? also, i dont know how to do a print screen with this logitech dinovo mini keyboard, or else i would show u how usb disk is halfway working.
