Title: music on hold
Post by: Teviot on February 23, 2010, 12:50:19 AM
Just checking before I start playing.

To change/add/delete the music on hold files found at /var/lib/asterisk/moh, I do the changes that I am planning. I don't need to change anything else and it will just work.

I want to add my own music and delete/move the the default music on hold files.

Am I on the right track or have I missed something?

Also, I was wondering if there is an extension number I could dial to listen to the music on hold?

Asterisk 1.4 uses WAV files but they have to be 8Kz mono.   Regular CD tracks won't work.  If you google or look on voip-info.org there's a fair bit on how to convert from regular files to ones that Asterisk can accept.

There's no number to dial for MOH but you can just put yourself on hold or knock up a custom app tp play a particular track.

Kind Regards
