For what it's worth I'll tell you how I do it ... I don't sell ANY hardware or software, just service. (That way I don't have maintain inventory or honor warranties, and I get paid to help others get warranties honored ...) So I help my clients order servers and other computers, and where appropriate I install SME server and get paid for my time.

We also sell SERVICES, - no hardware. We're using packages of "24/7 all included" agreements for our customers with fixed rates on monthly basis.
Al details are available on our website http://www.smeserver.se but in Swedish only. Try Google translate or something....

It is really exciting that your entire business is built around the SME services! May I ask how many customers have?
I myself is starting a small support-business where SME-services also will be included.
Thank you.
(I have been skiing in stunning Idre last year - not that far from you, guys :-) )

Well, number of customers are in the area 30-40...
Not ALL business consists om SME Server only (unfortunately...). We've been more and more into Ubuntu solutions, in particular we find the upcoming LTSP-based solutions from Ubuntu very promising.
...And of course a few Windolls just to make ends meet :(
And finally yes, Idre is not too far from here, and we still have lots and lots of snow 8) 8) 8)

Thanks jumba.
I would rather not steal this thread, but i have to ask you: are you going to use SME as LTSP server (don't know if one can do that - no GUI) and Ubuntu as thin clients? Or is Ubuntu the server?

No, even though it IS possible to use SME Server as a platform for LTSP (or at least it used to be...), what I was refering to above was the upcoming Ubuntu LTSP solutions which also integrates "cloud computing", but since this already is far Out Of Topic, I think we'd better duscuss that somewhere else :-?

I don't know the current "market rates" in your country, but you might want to compare with our rates in Swedish currency. Please use Google translate or something and take a look in our web pages as mentioned above.
And of course, please come back and report how things turn out for you!!!
Best luck!
