Title: Internet Explorer V8 Slooooowww !
Post by: cactus02 on March 23, 2010, 01:37:38 PM
Opening my site (http://www.secondemain.ca (http://www.secondemain.ca)) is very slow with Internet Explorer 8 but... snappy fast with Firefox 3.0.6 !
I tried opening on different PCs in different location !
What could cause such a difference !
Thank You !

I disagree..
you should really tell your client to use something different than a insecure, bugged and bloated sw as IE

Both browsers are fast for me to your site (from Australia)
Check your LAN and proxy server settings in IE

It has something to do with your site and IE8.
If you run IE with no add-ons it loads ok, so the SME-forums aren not the right place for you issue, try the MS forums.

HTH.

Perhaps, like me, IE8 doesn't like animations;~)
I notice your site does not accept gzip calls and
browser compression might be of benefit overall.
So, it might help your site to activate gzip on SME.
There used to be a contrib for gzip, mod_deflate
and eaccelerator but I couldn't find it on contribs.
However you should be better supplied on...
http://www.vanhees.cc/index.php?name=CmodsDownload&file=index&req=viewdownload&cid=6
...it's in French aussi;~)
YMMV
