Title: Root user being spammed

Im currently experiencing alot of spam coming in via the root account.  Its stuff thats quite blatently spam and isnt coming into any of the other accounts.  Is there any way of checking if the spam filters are running for root or not? Or is there a way of stopping the outside world sending anything to root?
