Title: Users not properly deleted from smbpasswd
Post by: IP, TAK HONG on September 04, 1999, 07:54:25 PM
When a user is deleted, its entry is still in /etc/smbpasswd. Is there is a fix for this? thanks

PASSWORD DELETION:  Thanks, IP,Tak Hong for your post! Actually this is not a bug.  When a user is deleted, the e-smith software deletes the Samba password by calling smbpasswd with the -d flag.  If you look in the /etc/smbpasswd file, you will see the "d" in the account control space for that user.  Once this is done all attempts to authenticate via SMB using this user name will fail.  Thanks for the post!  Kim

If the account is added again, the user id in /etc/passwd
and that in /etc/smbpasswd will not be the same. Then
the user cannot login to samba. Another very very minor problem
is missing apache default icons directory in /home/e-smith/files/primary/html.
