I have a "Greetings" tab on my SME server but can't do anything with it. It has the heading "TDM/VoIP Softswitch - Greetings". Under that is a box that says "COMMIT" and under that are two boxes "Number" and "Description". Under that is another "COMMIT" box. Am I missing something? I can record a greeting by dialing *60*NNNN. Thanks for the help.

The NNNN you use becomes the number of the greeting which will show on the greetings panel.
You can then add a description to the greeting so you know which is which.
You can add the files manually as well. See http://www.voip-info.org/wiki/view/Asterisk+sound+files for info on how to do that

SARK docs wiki (http://sarkpbx.com/twiki/bin/view/Main/DocChapter2511) and specific info on greetings (http://sarkpbx.com/twiki/bin/view/Main/DocChapter2511). Please do search.

I did that several times. *60*3000 and *60*3001. Saved them. Went to greetings. Nothing.
I looked in ~/asterisk/sounds (both /var/lib and /usr/share) for anything that looked like "usergreetingnnnn" and found nothing. I assumed in my case I would see a file usergreeting3000 and usergreeting3001.

User greetings are stored in /var/lib/asterisk/sounds if i remember correctly. Just a few thoughts: does that dir have the correct premissions/owner set. Maybe the version of SAIL you're running has got a glitch... upgrade or report a bug if it's the latest version.

I installed it from source yesterday so I don't think it is old. The permissions should be asterisk:asterisk correct?
I'm getting closer! I uninstalled sail-2.4.1-23 and installed 2.5.1-7 -> same problem. Uninstalled 2.5.1-7 and installed 2.4.1-12 -> works.
