Title: GSM Gateway Question
Post by: Teviot on June 28, 2010, 02:42:24 AM
Has anyone had an success with GSM Gateways?

I have found

http://cgi.ebay.com.au/NEW-Fixed-Cellular-Terminal-GSM-Gateway-Dual-Band-/290446473508?cmd=ViewItem&pt=AU_Networking&hash=item439ff57924 (http://cgi.ebay.com.au/NEW-Fixed-Cellular-Terminal-GSM-Gateway-Dual-Band-/290446473508?cmd=ViewItem&pt=AU_Networking&hash=item439ff57924)

Is there a better GSM gateway that I could look at for around the same price?

and would like to know if there are any traps in setting one up.

Downsides to that unit for here in Australia;

* It doesn't do 850Mhz for Telstra
* It doesn't do 2100Mhz for metro Optus stuff

Other than that it's damn cheap. The last one Tony fitted for a customer here was over $500 AUD

As gippsweb pointed out: This unit is not quad-band.
This is an analog unit, meaning you'll still need a FXO card or ATA adapter to use it.
No matter which way you choose, you going to have echo.

Best.
