Hi,
When the users log into their accounts they are greeted with a message....
The preferences backend is currently unavailable and your preferences have not been loaded. You may continue to use the system with default settings....
When they try and retrieve contacts from the Address Book, it comes up empty.
I have tried to perform a complete restore on the system but to no avail.
Any direction on this issue will be appreciated :). Thanks

Where do you login to when you see this message? A website? A PC in your local network? E-mail client? Please keep in mind that we have affinity with IT, not with mind reading. :-)

My guess is that this problem concerns webmail (IMP/Horde), and rseth should be reporting details of the problem via the bug tracker.

Sorry guys I will try and explain in detail....
The user logs into HORDE with their assigned user credentials.
By default the user is taken into his/her INBOX.
In the main interface at the top the user is greeted with the message ....
he preferences backend is currently unavailable and your preferences have not been loaded. You may continue to use the system with default settings....
When I investigate further, the address book, the identity details along with the signature are not loaded with the user profile but instead the user profile defaults to the DEFAULT IDENTITY.
-- I checked if the server had any space related issues which was not the case.
-- I performed a restore from the previous nights backup and rebooted the server but to no avail.
I am happy to report this issue as a bug if required.

It was unwise for you to do that. Restore is intended to be used only after a fresh install, or to restore a small number of specific files.
I am happy to report this issue as a bug if required.
What are you waiting for?

The issue now has been reported as a BUG.
I was hoping if there was an option to capture the files on the system and restore them manually.
