Hi,
in the attempt to revert back to an older version of SME (my last update broke everything!), I downloaded the smeserver.iso and the smeserver-8.0beta5-i386.iso files to start over. However, I want to recover, not blowout all the data on the existing SCSI partition. I can't seem to install without a direct hard drive rebuild - is the way to simply reinstall without a complete format?
Thanks,
Bill

No. However these is probably an easy fix for your problem, involving adding ';;' in the correct place in /etc/rc.d/init.d/e-smith-service. see http://bugs.contribs.org/show_bug.cgi?id=5830 for details.

Hey Charlie,
yep - I tried that patch yesterday - didn't work. Thanks for the feedback. I had to scrub the system and go on, unfortunately. Life goes on - bad timing for me.
Thanks,
Bill

That's a pity. It would be a lot more usefull to the community and you perhaps as well if you were to report the issue in the bug tracker so we can investigate what is causing your issues and if needed device a fix, from which you and others can benefit.

Then you had a different problem which you should have reported to the bug tracker, or you didn't apply the patch correctly.
In future, please report all broken updates via the bug tracker. You also shouldn't be using updates from a testing repository on a production system.
