Title: Software Installer
Post by: apple3feet on September 17, 2010, 01:26:32 PM
Sometimes when I install some updates using the Server Manager web interface, I seem to miss the

"signal-event post-upgrade
signal-event reboot"

stuff.

First I look, and there is a button to reboot at the bottom - the I go to another page, and when I come back the button is gone, and the page just says the system is up to date.  The machine was not rebooted.

Questions

(1)  In the above case, do I need to manually do the deed?
(2)  Is that what the "reconfigure" option in "Reboot or Shutdown" does?
(3)  Is there anyway to find the system uptime via the web interface?  (I know I can do it from the system console)almost comertl

You can but don't need to. This is only required for updates to e-smith/smeserver packages and kernel packages IIRC. SME Server is capable of determining if the reconfigure actions are needed.

Yes.

No, but a simple
Code: [Select]
uptime when logged in as root does the trick as well.

If you install the sysmon contrib you can view such information (& more) in the newly added panel in server manager or IIRC on a web page.

Please review the available Contribs & Howtos, refer to my signature block for access details.
