Title: Certified network cards
Post by: jimgoode on September 21, 2010, 09:21:19 PM
I have been searching for the approved network card list and not having success. I've gone through the SME documentation where it recommends searching RHEL 4 for certified hardware... no luck. I've gone to the CentOS web site... no luck. Where can I find a list of network cards that are approved/certified for SME 7.5.1?

TIA,
Jim

a good nic with intel chipset would do the job..

take a look here (http://www.intel.com/products/server/adapters/index.htm#s1=Gigabit%20Ethernet&s2=all&s3=all) and here (http://smolt.contribs.org)

I use Realtek based ones too, seem to work fine. Edimax and SMC OK. Just plug in and they're found.

+1 for the Intel network cards.

Realtek 10/100 cards like ones with the 8139 chips work well, but the g'bit ones with the 8169 chips can be very hit and miss...
I've used the 8169 chips before with success, but since changing to Intel dual port g'bit cards I wouldn't use the Realtek ones again.....
