Title: Passwords all wrong ?
Post by: Drifting on October 01, 2010, 05:24:23 PM
I have had a nightmare today. A faulty UPS killed my SME server, I did have a backup of which I restored to a clean install, however I cannot login to the webmail or authenticate any user. I have reset the passwords, and even went so far as to create a user called fred with a simply password, and that says wrong password too ?

Here is the log extract of when I was trying to connect to webmail :-

Oct  1 16:14:31 ttlv HORDE[5114]: [imp] FAILED LOGIN for fred [10.0.0.5] to {localhost:993 [imap/ssl/novalidate-cert]} [pid 5114 on line 139 of "/home/httpd/html/horde/imp/lib/Auth/imp.php"]
1 16:06:43 ttlv HORDE[5107]: [imp] FAILED LOGIN for admin [10.0.0.5] to {localhost:993 [imap/ssl/novalidate-cert]} [pid 5107 on line 139 of "/home/httpd/html/horde/imp/lib/Auth/imp.php"]
Oct  1 16:14:02 ttlv HORDE[5111]: [imp] FAILED LOGIN for fred [10.0.0.5] to {localhost:993 [imap/ssl/novalidate-cert]} [pid 5111 on line 139 of "/home/httpd/html/horde/imp/lib/Auth/imp.php"]

I realize that does not say much, but then neither does much else in the log. I am worried sick over this as it has a lot of very important email.

Regards Paul

how did you backup your server?
how do you restore?

in any case, please go to bugzilla, open a bug and report here the bug_id for future reference, thank you

Hi Stefano

Thanks for responding. Although a bug report may be the route, my need at the moment is a little more urgent.

I backed up and restored via the workstation route which went to a small NAS I have on my network.

Just a wild guess, but I suspect a certificate issue.

Did you receive any error mesasges during the restore process? Did you complete the restore process and also go through the required reboot afterwards?

Yes I did follow the complete restore, and rebooted at the end, no errors at all. I thought the certificate also, but read after a google that the novalidate was what you have to use when it is a self signed certificate, I might add that SME I assume added that part?

I am currently installing yet another VM and I am going to try the restore via USB, which I also had! Been bitten before with bad backups, just hope these are good, otherwise I am up the creek without a paddle.
