hi to all have a problem on sme server 7.5 i setup my server wit
primary Domain
server mode: Server and gateway
is Directly connected on my ASDSL Router bridge mode to my sme server, all the configuration are working 100%, the bug is that in cant access my web site external using my domain-name name have to use my Public IP
The server is set to provide DHCP and DNS.
I have configured the server so that the primary domain is the same
as my registered domainname, and checked the server review config.
panel to confirm web, ftp, etc also point to the correct webaddress.
I have the domain content set in the sme server manage domain panel
to primary, and have played with setting the domainname servers to
both "resolve locally" and to "Internet DNS servers", to no avail.
i try to configure a bind to resolve my dns but not working properly so i need a help
how can i setup sme to be recognized externally, access my web site using a domain-name name not a public IP.
thanks

amangue: this has nothing to do with SME..
you have to configure your DNS on your ISP panel..
please take some time to read here (http://wiki.contribs.org/Domain_practical_usage_tips)
thank you

amangue,
You need to look at Hostnames. In the Server-Manager.
Point the 'www' to the external IP.
Read the Manual, it's all in there.
Cheers ....

No, this is bad incorrect. Stefano's answer is correct: To have external users know where to look for a certain hostname it should be registered in a public DNS, therefore the DNS server of your provider should list your domain name with your external IP. SME Server can and should not be used as a public DNS server.

No, that was not incorrect. In order for internal users to be able to access an external website with name www.domain.name, where domain.name is the domain name of the SME server, then 'www' needs to be configured with the external IP address in the Hostnames panel. This is because SME server provides a "private view" of the DNS for 'domain.name' to the internal LAN, and 'hides' the DNS for 'domain.name' which is visible on the Internet.

Yes, this is correct information about setting up DNS for your domain for Internet users to access it.

You need to completely undo anything you have done with bind.
