Good Day
I was wondering if anybody knew how to use the Smeserver, with Horde as the Webmail, and set it up so it is like Yahoo / Gmail etc..
That is I send a link to my client http://www.myhordelink.com/webmail
They then fill in their details, such as username and password, and it creates an account for them, and they can then use the Horde webmail??
Thanks

So you are asking to let your client create an account without your control?
BRRRRRRRRRR....
I think you should search elsewhere
all IMHO

???
How is that a problem??, Gmail allow it, Yahoo allow??
I am not allowing them to Administrate the server..just create a username and email address

ahem... it seems to me that google and yahoo are quite bigger than SME and, obviously, they don't use SME :-)

you can't create an user if you are not admin.. and even if you can delegate such a feature via userpanels cpontrib, each user can see others, lock/delete/change password for all the users..
so, I repeat, you need something different

That is a total different entity then your private organisation, as it seems you are not a ISP like body, right? They have a huge administrative body, a extensive service park and a good chunk of capable administrators and tools in place to monitor and intervene.

And hence users can register without control and create a e-mailaddress on your domain without some terms of agreement. You make potential spammers very happy with this IMHO.

Let's put the answer in a different way:
SME does not support this function. Users are added, changed and deleted by administrators. Users have limited ability to change their own accounts, but certainly not add or delete them.
That said, this sort of functionality is certainly workable, but it would have to be done using custom created code. You would have to write a PHP or other such application to make all of that happen.
This does bring about the questions "What?!", "Why?!" and "Are you out of your mind?!" but in the end, it's your machine(s). You will have to deal with the hordes of spammers and hackers and crackers and criminals and the like when you let an anonymous public create accounts and send email through it. Presuming you are not a programmer yourself, I recommend befriending a programmer somewhere and talk it over with him.

unfortunately, in our common space (www).. then a cracked machine is a problem for me, for you, for all of us..
