AFAIK no, there's no plans to move to postgresql
anyway, why do you ask such a question?

Your best bet for this information is Google, a quick search will show you a amount of information: http://lmgtfy.com/?q=postgresql+vs+mysql
MySQL and PostgreSQL should be able to operate on SME Server simultaneously, MySQL is on the server as it is a requirement for the webmail system Horde that is part of the SME Server core, other than that there is no reason for MySQL being there perse. That being set a lot of applications are created for MySQL database servers, where there are programs that make use of a PostgreSQL database but they are certainly less in number.

Hello@ALL,
thanks for reply, i read about some news about plans of oracle
to make changes on mysql, to this mysql is not free. This was the
basic idea on my questions if there a plans to replace mysql at the
core system. I don't know much about postgresql but much online
newspapers wrote about it.
Are there some good howtos of mysql on SME to fine tune mysql?
(no tuning) or does the basic setup with cd always set the best settings
for ram and cache settings of mysql? (i am not a mysql guru)
Thanks Tom

Don't believe everything you read. The version of mysql used in SME is free and will always be free. Oracle can do nothing about that.
Did you search for mysql tuning advice?

And it's very likely that there will not be. postgresql databases are a pain during upgrade. mysql is no trouble at all.
