Title: email delivered to wrong person
Post by: Scott on June 28, 2002, 06:43:02 PM
I have a weird problem with the pop and web email features of  my esmith 5.1.2 server.
My server is on dedicated connection with domain pointing to it. I have webmail enabled in secure mode.

The first user account that i created was scott which gives me an address of scott@mydomain.com
mail sent to that address shows up when checked with a pop client. but doesnt show up in webmail.
mail sent to other user accounts such as nancy@mydomain.com or annette@mydomain.com don't show up in webmail either but when scott@mydomain.com checks its pop mail it gets the messages sent to user accounts nancy and annette

in the web interface control panel these are the settings.
email retrieval is set to standard
and forwarding for the admin account is not being used.
unknow addresses are returned to sender

at this point the email feature is unusabe for me. I have looked on the message board for similar problems and havent seen anything, so I am thinking i have something messed up. I have installed the mp3 blade and the 5.1.2 update blade.

I'm not an expert, but check you have the domain of the incoming mail as either your primary domain or as a virtual domain. I would guess the mail is being sent to the default administrator account (scott?) as it doesn't know where else to send it.

As far as I can tell my domain name is correctly setup.
pop email works most of the time. web not at all..... it did work........ im thinking it has to have something to do with installation of one of the blades. It worked prior to that....
