Hey guys,
I'm new to SME Server and linux. I installed SME server 7.5.1 first on an old machine, where it is possible to install contribs by the server-manager interface.
Then I installed SME Server 7.5.1 on an 24/7 machine without problems, except the problem that those smeserver-contribs are now not shown anymore in the server-manager listing.
Installing it by hand by using root commands is possible. But I'd like to use the server-manager to install contribs.
Due to the identical installation procedure I guess the difference in hardware may cause the issue.
I'm now searching for two weeks in the internet for a solution.. :-(
Is this a bug or is there something I have to configure to use the installation routine in the server-manager to install rpms like smeserver-vacation etc?
Best regards ;)
PS: I'm not sure if this topic is in the correct sub part of the forum. If not, I'm sorry.
edit: Headline changed to [SOLVED]...

Yes, but not by default, hence they are not visible at new installs as you found out:

No, hardware is not related, this is a configuration issue.

You shouldn't have.

It is a configuration issue. The SME Contribs repository is not visible by default, you can alter that with the following commands:
db yum_repositories setprop smecontribs Visible yes
Edit: Fixed a typo and remove the event as it is not required in this case

Hey cactus,
Thanks for your advice. I executed your suggested commands with root login, but it didn't change the fact that
smecontribs are not shown within server-manager installation interface (the 'additional software packages' option is activated of course).
I also restarted the server, so I don't know what else to do.
But due to the fact that I'm able to install with root login I don't need to insist on solving the problem.
If you are interested in solving the problem I can follow your proposed instructions and/or deliver more information.
Thanks anyway :)

There was a typo in my commands, there was a dash instead of an underscore in the database name, the commands in my previous post has been corrected and should do the trick, a reboot should not be required. Keep in mind that they are case sensitive and although badly visible the V in visible is a capital V.

Unfortunately the edited commands don't do the trick, too. There's still the same listing without smecontribs in the server-manager.
It's about those smecontribs - listed here using putty and yum --disablerepo=* --enablerepo=smecontribs list available

Strange, they work here OK. It should make the smecontribs repository visible in server-manager. What is the output of the following command:
db yum_repositories show smecontribs
You are aware that you will have to enable the repository through the server-manager as well as selecting manage individual packages? After that you should be able to select the packages from the list.

Yay! :D
That was the crucial point: I didn't know that your command is creating an entry in "activated software-library".
Activating it now, it solved the problem!
Thanks so much, cactus!!! 8)
Cheers to you!
