Is it hard to setup Push Email on SME for my users?
With more and more mobile devices in people's hands the request for push email won't be too far behind.

I think you are looking for Funambol, do a search on the forums for it. I have seen it come up a few times in the past.

I think IMAP already had push capabilities... from memory... I remember to have some tests and after had confirmed it on IMAP version installed on my own home server.
Are you sure you do not have this rigth now ?

AFAIK P-IMAP (or Push-IMAP) is still a draft: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Push-IMAP

Isn´t this available thru IDLE command who´s supported by dovecot used on SME ?
I´m sure I tested IDLE support on my own Nokia E63 configurated to IMAP4 on my home SME server.
As soon as message arrives on SME, Nokia E63 get a new message notify and his headers!
I remembered I did this test after read about IDLE support at GMAIL ... and became curious if our beloved SME server had same feature!

Push IMAP is not the same as the IDLE mechanism, but if it works you should have a solution.

I have an iPhone, and I havn't found a way to make it work. If you have an suggestion about settings on the phone I'd be happy to try them. So far the only setting I've come across is polling.
I have Google accounts through work and the push technology works fantastic. Funambol seems like a bit of overkill.

For Push-Email try Zarafa with z-push. It works on SME and works fantastic with Nokia MFE (Mail For Exchange). It can Sync Mail, Phonebook, Calender. Is is compatible with all Active Sync Devices, like Iphone, BlackBerry.
Z-Push is an implementation of the ActiveSync protocol which is used 'over-the-air' for multi platform ActiveSync devices, including Windows Mobile, iPhone, Sony Ericsson and Nokia mobile devices. With Z-Push any groupware can be connected and synced with these devices.
