Title: fetchmail: another foreground fetchmail is running
Post by: Russell Johnston on July 01, 2002, 10:56:04 PM
I have SME 5.1.2 with Steve Noble's e-smith-multipop-0.1-4. I sometimes get this notification mailed to me - "fetchmail: another foreground fetchmail is running at xxxxx". Is this a normal "side-effect" of using multi-pop, or do I need to worry? This happened 9 times one day, but sometimes goes days with no message.

Thanks, Russell.

Hi,
Don't worry. The system is telling you that fecthmail is still busy with a previous fetchmail call.

Check your 'chaeck mail interval' in the manager panel. I'll bet it's set to 5 minutes.

Set it to a different value to check what's right for you.

Regards,
guestHH

Thanks RequestedDeletion. It's set to 15 mins over 512k ADSL and it doesn't process much mail so I am surprised, but I'm pleased it's nothing to be concerned over. I guess it just does nothing in this case and tries again next time?

Thanks.

Sorry to bother you after this thread finished a few months ago, but it was the closest match to an error that I'm getting now. I am getting "fetchmail: another foreground fetchmail is running at xxxx" up to 20 times a day. This is a new installation, 5.1 software and  I understand the reply above about connections every 5 mins and the previous job still running etc, but my server is set to 2 hours over BRI ISDN and only has 3-5 users!! Should I be worried??
