I have a file server running Samba on Suse 9.3. I have need to migrate this set up to SME Server (better functions, and easier administration).
What is the best migration path for going from the Suse 9.3 (Samba) to SME?
Thank you,

sme uses samba all you will need to do is build a second computer install sme create your shares as ibays or add the shared folder add on copy you files across then shut down your suse nas.
if you dont have the hardware for 2 pcs then back up your data to remote drives format with sme and then transfer the data back across.

So basically, if I copy over the Samba configs and make sure the ibays are properly shared, after that I just need to move in the data? Would that also satisfy the "domain controller" aspects of the current Suse 9.3 file server? (I failed to mention the stations are joined to it in domain mode, not workgroup)

No, you will have to unjoin them from the domain (preferably when the old DC is still up) and after you have configured you SME Server you will have to join them to the new domain on that machine.
