Title: Server only or server gateway
Post by: wbs316 on February 14, 2011, 11:01:24 AM
Are there advantages in configuring an SME server in server gateway mode as opposed to server only.  If you plan to setup a domain name, a static IP and host your own email is this where the main advantages are?

gateway mode includes router functionality (firewall, dhcp, dns etc.), requires 2 nics.

You can also host email etc. in server only mode, but you need to setup your own router for this (port forwarding or dmz).
