Title: [advices] planning to use sme server
Post by: lisyan on February 22, 2011, 10:56:11 AM
Hi!

We would like to replace our windows server with sme.
Now we have a network shared folder on that server which is used by 50 desktop pc's.

This folder is mapped on the client side with 'network drive connection'. So we do not have
any ActiveDirectory or domanin etc... everything seems very simple.

I'm new at this place and I would like to introduce the use of SME, do you think one single SME server
can provide access to the folder for 50 (and more in the future) client pc?

many thanks!

Yes.

You might also look at installing two identical NICs in the machine (server-only configuration) and using the built-in "bonding" to double your throughput to your switch.  Stuff the SME box full of RAM and you're in business!
