Title: Company website block by SME server
Post by: msk on February 24, 2011, 11:45:06 AM
Hi

I am using SME 7.4 with Dansguardian in our office as Server & gateway mode in our organization which is working fine and stable.

For last few days we notice company website has block by server and we cannot open web page but clients can open all other sites without any problem and company site is also working fine behind windows gateways and other computer directly connected with internet.

I have checked all Dansguardian list files if by mistake site block and also checked by disabling Dansguardian and directly with default preconfigured squid configuration of SME server
And also refresh Squid cache couple of times but no success, please some guide what can be problem?

regards
MSk

What error messages do you see
- on the workstation?
- in /var/log/httpd/error_log?
- in the dansguardian logs?
- in the iptables logs?

If you "ping" the "company website" from a workstation where it works, and from another where it doesn't work, do you get the same IP address (is there a DNS problem)?

If "ping" gives the same IP:
- does it succeed?
- does traceroute (or "tracert" on windows) to the "company website" indicate any problems?

If you company website is hosted externally, then you need to use the 'Hostnames and Addresses' panel to set the IP address of www.company.com to the IP address of your web hosting provider, so that the internal DNS maintained by SME server resolves correctly.

[I'd be very surprised if this was not documented, in the FAQ if not in the User Guide.]

Moving to Contribs section of the forum, Dans is not core package.
