Hello,
I installed e-smith as a gateway between my department and the rest of the university.
During installation, I gave a name to the machine, and a domain, and it automatically took also the name www and mail.
There already are machines called www and mail, so I turned it off with the web-based tool.
But my proxy now can't see any more any other machine within the university (www.u-bourgogne.fr, etc ......)
The message is :
"Unable to determine IP address from host name for www
The dnsserver returned:
Name Error: The domain name does not exist.
This means that:
The cache was not able to resolve the hostname presented in the URL.
Check if the address is correct.
Your cache administrator is admin@u-bourgogne.fr."
And my cache administrator is not admin@u-bourgogne.fr, but admin@MyMachine.u-bourgogne.fr.
The DNS is the one of the university, and it knows very well its web site.
What do I have to do ?
Thanks.

Instead of disabling www, mail, etc, try to point it to the correct server.

Yes, but in this system, where do I do that ?
And furthermore, through this proxy, we cannot join any
machine in u-bourgogne.fr.
The DNS adress is correct, as we can view any site over
the internet, but not ours (and there are many) .....
Thanks for answering.
