Title: emailing home?
Post by: compsos on March 20, 2011, 11:22:41 PM
Hi S
Has Sail a hidden registration feature?
Just had a email failure report that has never come up before and hope it is not a breach of some sort.

Is this a recent install?

No been at this level for awhile. But this is the 1st time that the email failure has been seen.
Would I be right in saying it is not part of the original code?

The 2.x code did send a signal home which we used to count the number of installs.  It should only run once when you install the software. It then sets a flag and shouldn't ever run again.  The email address that it sent home to doesn't exist any more so you would get an email bounce on a fresh install.

No idea why you would get it on an old install tho'

Incidentally, 3.x doesn't send anything.

Kind Regards

S

Thanks Jeff

Sounds like just a throw back but at least it explains the rejection was valid. I was concerned of a possible hacking.
