Should I open a bug report?
I also noticed that my logs says that my ClamAV version is out of date (I'm at level 56 and 60 is recommended). Is this related to the failure of auto update?

should read
"I also noticed that my logs says that my ClamAV version is out of date ( WARNING: Current functionality level = 53, recommended = 60). Is this related to the failure of auto update?"

Please click the FAQ link at top of Forum, and read the Yum Updates section carefully.

I would suggest OP to search the forums for clamav issue :-)

Mary,
I took a look at the FAQ. Got to admit I didn't get much out of it. So I guess I'll start by verifying which repositories are enabled. Don't know how to do that. Where do I find the info on how to verify repositories?

You should open a bug report any time you think there might be a bug. Obviously you think there might be a bug here.

Charlie,
Thanks for replying. I'm still picking my way through the various bits of info and instructions. I've done a yum clean and update and am waiting to see what happens in the logs. I looks like the yum log error shows up ever 5-6 hours, so I have a few hours to wait to see if the problem goes away.
Also, it looks like this problem has been reported before.

That doesn't matter. We will merge any duplicates.

Sorry for not replying sooner...busy, busy, busy.
It seems the yum cleanup and update fixed the problem.
Thanks to all for you help.
