Hi
Please verify you have just standard repositories enabled: follow http://wiki.contribs.org/Adding_Software#Yum_Repositories
after that, try to use
yum clean all
And finally, if problem remains, from here: http://wiki.contribs.org/Updating_from_SME_7.1.x_or_earlier#Yum_Update follow instructions to reset to default repositories.
and post answers/questions/status here.
Just remember: nobody NEEDS TO HELP you, you do not pay for this ...it´s a volunteer work.
When happy, please donate work or money to help project.

Lodge a bug report at bugzilla.

Login as root on your system and run this command, then report what you see:
lynx -dump http://distro.ibiblio.org/pub/linux/distributions/smeserver/mirrorlist/smeaddons-7
See http://bugs.contribs.org/show_bug.cgi?id=6617#c22 for one probable solution.

Have you run the command shown here (http://wiki.contribs.org/SME_Server_8#Pointing_repositories_to_SME_8) to update the repository settings for SME 8?

I've just updated two SME8.b6 without any problem.. I guess it's something on your side (wan connection)
anyway, you can try to update your server with
yum update --disablerepo=smeaddons
it should work.. anyway, please, raise a bug as suggested, thank you
