Hi all,
On a couple of servers we installed several years ago, we set them up with a primary domain of mydomain.local as was suggested by the installer (where my domain is the company's real domain)
This has worked fine for several years and continues to work fine in most respects because we can set the actual email from address in the email client and in horde.
However increasingly we are getting bounces from the vacations contrib because it sends out email as if if it was from user@mydomain.local and of course this has no reverse dns.
Does anybody know a way to easily correct this as it seems a bit much to have to reconfigure the server so that its primary domain is a .com or whatever just to fix this small issue.
Hoping someone can shed some light.
Kind regards
Ian

Just change the domain name in the console admin panel, all data will be retained.
Using the .local suffix is not a good idea as you have now discovered, so it's best to do away with it asap.

HI Mary,
will this not cause problems with domain joined machines?
Kind regards

The DOMAIN name for the LAN is configured in a server manager panel.
The domain name (as in web URL) is configured in the admin console.
They are totally different things !

Yes I know they are different, I just wanted to double check their weren't any inter dependencies.
Many thanks for your help

Well you originally said
"we set them up with a primary domain of mydomain.local as was suggested by the installer (where my domain is the company's real domain)"
so I assume you mean the domain name (as in web URL of the server for Internet access to your server).
If that is what you mean then changing that should not affect your DOMAIN logins.
That has nothing to do with your LAN DOMAIN
