Title: install some basic program utilities in sme8beta6

Starting a place where some every day useful programs not included in sme8beta6 will be shown how to be installed.

To other forum users, please show how to add more utility programs.

mpstat 
sysstat installs the mpstat program

yum install sysstat

I’ve used SME8 beta6 with updates for about 10 days now.  Working well, but every contrib I attempt to add except logwatch reported … not found.   I did a local yum install of dd client.  Both contribs are working well.  I’m ready to further explore and appreciate any help to make thing easier.

I did that.  Logwatch installed as expected but everything else I tried was not found.

You have to configure the sme7contribs repo, as explained here: http://wiki.contribs.org/SME8.0_Contribs_QA#Setup
Then, when you want to install some contrib, you need to enable this repo like this:

yum --enablerepo=sme7contribs install smeserver-foo

My bad.  Changing smecontribs to sme7contribs solved my problem -“yum --enablerepo=sme7contribs install smeserver-wbl” -.  I installed smeserver-wbl panel  and attempted awstats.  Yum found both contribs but failed for dependencies on awstats.  I’ll work on this over the weekend.

I would like to Charlie, but most likely i would make some major errors.
Let's make those errors here and discuss them here,  then move what works well to a wiki.

You're allowed to make errors in the wiki. Someone else can correct any errors. That's how a wiki works.

I can agree only to a point on wiki. But how many people in gods creation monitors wiki pages for additions on a developmental project and I underscore DEVELOPMENTAL.
I for one, do not,  and I believe I am quiet a normal person.

Try ...

yum --enablerepo=sme7contribs --enablerepo=smecontribs install program-name

if using only 1 fails.

Please do not hijack another's thread. Start your own, on topic, and in the correct forum. You should ask in the Contribs forum.

But first you should search - did you search here first for vTiger?
