Im a newbie trying to set up mail for a 5 user lan using e-smith 5.1.2 and a single pop3 mailbox (username@ausnfo.com.au) that receives all the mail for subdomain.ausnfo.com.au. I have tried out the e-smith-isp rpm to control local phone costs and it allows me to dial up the isp on demand from the control panel.
This is what I want (and its not working).
This is what I know:
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The local ISP has given us a subdomain and altered and MX record for us
ISP: ausnfo.com.au ISP Mail server mail.ausnfo.com.au
Us: subdomain.ausnfo.com.au
The MX record is this:
subdomain.ausnfo.com.au class IN type MX preference: 50
exchange: smtpppp.ausnfo.com.au
My box is called esmith
My box is currently given the domain name ausnfo.com.au with a virtual domain subdomain.ausnfo.com.au (I have tried subdomain.ausnfo.com.au but it didnt work either)
I have created all the users locally
I have set email retrieval to
multidrop
Delegate mail server : left blank
Secondary mail server: mail.ausnfo.com.au (isp's mail server)
POP3 user account : username (as in username at ausnfo.com.au)
POP3 Pass: pword:D
sort method (tried both default and specified To: and X-delivered-to:) (I dont think they insert x-delivered-to headers from looking at them)
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I cannot for the life of me get mail into the damn box! I want all the users@subdomain.ausnfo.com.au to have their mail dropped into their specfic boxes. I have webmail working and can send from one user to another localy ok. I can send out mail to the internet ok but I cant get it to pop off the isp mailserver and be distributed.
I dont know enough to fix this and Im really stuck.
What are the settings that I should be using for:
the domain name of my box and in the email settings...
???
I have trolled these forums trying various things with no further insight.
thx in advance

Install http://www.e-smith.dyndns.org/fetchmail-5.8.17-1.i386.rpm AND http://www.e-smith.dyndns.org/e-smith-fetchmail-0.3-1.noarch.rpm and enjoy the new "Mail users" menu in your server manager : "E-Mail retrival" must be set to "Multidrop"... Works well with 5.1.2, dunno for 5.5...

A new RPM is available at http://e-smith.dyndns.org/e-smith-fetchmail-0.3-3.noarch.rpm
