Title: Console backup to USB device
Post by: olddog11 on September 10, 2011, 11:38:40 PM
I have been trying to perform a console backup to USB device but the USB pendrive is not being recognised. I get a message instructing me to attach a device even though one is connected.

I have tried reformatting the USB pen drive to various formats, fat32, ext2, ext3 but none seem to work.

Should these drives mount automatically or do I need to mount them manually?

I would like to make a backup of the configuration files as well as data so that I can perform a fresh install and restore all configuration files and data. Can this be done successfully from the server manager backup? The documentation seems to suggest that it can but I'm confused as to the difference between to console backup and the server manager backup. Is one preferred to the other or is it simply a case of more choice and simply down to personal preference?

Any thoughts would be appreciated.
