Title: PPTP Client problem
Post by: akhilmathema on October 17, 2011, 08:39:27 AM
Hi,
As I connect my Windows VPS to SME 7.5(running pppoe) via PPTP connection, the VPS becomes completely inaccessible remotely. On tcpdump, I noticed all incoming traffic to the VPS is routed to ppp1 of SME server. But the outgoing traffic from the VPS is not affected.
There is no issue when I connect my windows VPS  only to the modem.
Is it something to do with route issue or PPTP config?
Regards,
ABM

What is a Windows VPS?

Have you un-checked the box (checked by default in windows pptp connections) for 'use default gateway on remote network'
(VPN Properties / TCP/IP properties / Advanced)?

Its all checked. The same settings works while connecting to the modem but not on SME 7.5  server handling pppoe connections. The client is Windows Virtual Machine on VMWare.

Are you using SME 7.5 or 7.5.1. I remember reading that one of the fixs in the upgrade to 7.5.1 was a fix to the VPN. If you are on 7.5 you might consider upgrading to the latest version of SME 7.
