Title: Install
Post by: MM on July 20, 2002, 11:29:36 PM
About 3/4's of the way during the "Performing post install configuration" screen the machine freezes.
I know this is a long shot but:

Mainboard Gigabyte ga7zxe
Duron 1200
60 gig IBM 7200 hard drive
128 MB RAM

When I reset the machine it goes into checking the root filesystem and does a
- deleted inode 12 has 0 dtime. FIXED and then the % starts doing it's thing very slowly
Just wondering if anything has gone south because of this, and I won't be able to use some of the utilties.

With a 60G drive the post install is going to take a while - do a fresh install just before you go to bed - see how it looks in the morning:-)

Bingo There where jumper settings on the machine that had me set it to 32 GB. It will more then likely mean that I have half the size I need right now but ehhhh I would rather get some work done

Bios might need an update.  You're using the 80-conductor UltraATA IDE cable, right?  Try running the 60GB on the primary controller alone on its cable, and be sure it's on the END and not in the middle.

You might check out that drive, too -- the 60GB IBM drives seem to be more reliable than the 80 and above, but just the same ...

Having the same problem with a 20Gb HD. Its the Master on the primary IDE with the DVD-ROM the slave.
Is this a problem (the HD is in the middle of the cable)?
Thanks,
Matt
