Title: Asterisk on SME 8.0

Hi all,

I have been trying to install Asterisk on SME 8.0 and tried all how-to's and contribs (Sail, FreePBX etc). They all fail due to various dependency errors. These errors vary per how-to/contrib.

What would be the preferred way to install Asterisk on SME 8.0 please?

Hi Mary,

yep, posted in the wrong section, should have been 8.0 contribs. Nevertheless, also the 7.x contribs/how-to's are either outdated or no longer valid due to new dependencies.

Well there is a 7.x VoIP forum thread that appears to refer to updating sme to 8, as well as asterisk. Seems to use a special iso

Hi Mary,

yeah, saw those posts, but installing a custom ISO (thus moving away from stock SME Server) is not what a 'contrib' is about, that more of a replacement ;-)

You don't have to use the custom ISO, you can install using RPMs, details are here:
