Title: DAR replacement?
Post by: Philippe MARTY on July 08, 2012, 04:40:51 PM
Hello,

Is there another way than using DAR to do complete backups of my sme-server?

My server cannot do the backup because of a bug (http://bugs.contribs.org/show_bug.cgi?id=6964) which is stil unsolved, and, since one month now, I can't do any backup of my datas!

Please someone, do you have an advice for a soft able to do a complete backup (OS and datas) of my SME Server (8.0)

Thanks for your help

You could install the DAR2 contrib

Ok, is it fully compliant with SME 8.0 ?
And no problem with existing dar catalog (no mix)?

AFAIK it works OK with sme8. It is a completely seperate backup solution to the default backup that uses dar. The backup files and location are seperate so there is no interaction between e-smith-dar and DAR2.

You could also use Affa, refer to the latest version 3.x available from externally hosted site. Follow the link from the contrib wiki article.
