I attempted to upgrade my serve from 7.6 to 8.0 this afternoon and all appeared to go OK until reboot time. On reboot I could not reconnect. The server allowed me to login and on reviewing the message log I found:
FATAL: Could not load /lib/modules/2.6.9-55.0.2/ELsmp/module.dep no such file or directory
The message was repeated and then there was a message regarding the network and unexpected MAC address.
There are no files in directory /lib/modules/2.6.9-55.0.2/ELsmp but the is another directory /2.6.18-308.4.1.el5PAE with the required module.
I'm now lost. Where do I go from here?
TIA,
Tony

Please follow up at Bugzilla, do not make any changes to your server so that the Devs can track down your problem.
Thanks.

Noted. Will (not) do.
Thanks for your prompt responses.

This turned out to be due to the failure of the 'hardware' raid on my server.
Moral of the story DO NOT, under ANY circumstances, use any BIOS based raid array. aka "Intel Embedded Server RAID" The raid in SME works much better and is safer.

My thanks to Charlie and Chris for all their help
