Title: Network Shares
Post by: xinspirit on August 10, 2012, 10:43:23 PM
Hi Forum,

my SME Server is in the DMZ with the address 192.168.3.2 (Server only). The clients are in LAN1 (192.168.1.0). I can reach in the webbrowser with 192.168.3.2 the SME.
How do I create network shares on the SME and connect them with the windows explorer?

Best Regards

add 192.168.1.0 as a "local network" on the SME so that local services are available to your LAN clients.

Also, make sure that your firewall is passing the required traffic from the LAN zone to the DMZ zone.

Thank you for your reply.

192.168.1.0 is now a local for the SME. The network shares are still not available. Which ports do I need to open for them? (Samba: 137, 138, 139 and 445)?
One more question: which address do I use for the DNS server? 192.168.3.2? 192.168.1.0 cannot find the server under the servername or workgroupname.

Best Regards

You might be better to fully explain you network configuration. How many devices reside in the dmz? It may be advantageous to run server gateway with the external nic in the dmz and a modified dhcp via customer template for the router value. The firewall built in hasn't let me down and my external nic is truely public.
