I would like to set up an e-smith server with RAID 1 capabilities. The system will have two SCSI 9GB drives. I would prefer a hardware solution, ie. controller that automatically "ghosts" the main drive. Any suggestions for such a controller?

We don't have any experience with RAID controllers ourselves, but have heard good things about Mylex (see http://www.dandelion.com/Linux/DAC960.html).
We've also heard good things about the ICP-Vortex RAID controller.
Anyone else had experiences with these controllers?

Apart from the hardware RAID 1 configuration, can I have software RAID I for e-smith ?
I intend to have software RAID I installed and if one of the hard disk fails, then I still can continue my work ? Does e-smith support software RAID I for whole hard disk or just only for some partitions ?
Thanks.
