Post by: emel_punk on August 26, 2012, 10:13:26 PM
Hi all

i am new on this and i ive install SME 8.0  and did configure  so my pcs on lan can navigate.
but i want to configure other stuffs so i have log via http o https to the SME server and a page display

This web site is under construction

i searched online and found some things about a bug and upgrade from older version to 8.0 brings to the error. But i am doing a newly install and i have no back up. How ever i did the steps about that bug but stills appear the same page "This web site is under construction".

So how i fix this?

as stated there : http://wiki.contribs.org/SME_Server:Documentation:Administration_Manual:Chapter8

to administer your server you need to connect to one of the following:
     https://www.yourdomain.xxx/server-manager
    https://ip-of-your-server/server-manager
    https://name-of-your-server/server-manager

connecting to :

     https://www.yourdomain.xxx/
    https://ip-of-your-server/
    https://name-of-your-server/
     http://www.yourdomain.xxx/
    http://ip-of-your-server/
    http://name-of-your-server/

will let you see the content of the Primary ibay, which contain a default index.html file that states "This web site is under construction".

Moving to SME8.xx section.

The default web page after installation consists of a document stating " this web site is under construction".  You can edit this default index.html document manually by clicking "create starter website" under Miscellaneous" in server-manager or use a web creating package to make a more elaborate page and replace the default site. Note that you need to log as "admin" to make changes to the default index.html.

Well i have a few questions. We are making migration to a linux distro and we choose SME becuase its based on Centos.  So i want to know if its possible via web configure:

- Can i configure my clients vpn-pptp?
- Can i administrate Squid proxy  for transparent mode, restrict access via users, sites, ip, etc?
- Can i have my public site on SME server?

off course this thinks can be done in almost any linux from console but i need to know how to, via web?

I strongly suggest you to read this :
http://wiki.contribs.org/
and particularly this part : http://wiki.contribs.org/SME_Server:Documentation

by doing so ....

- Can i configure my clients vpn-pptp?
you might found this : http://wiki.contribs.org/SME_Server:Documentation:Administration_Manual:Chapter11#PPTP_.28VPN.29

- Can i administrate Squid proxy  for transparent mode, restrict access via users, sites, ip, etc?
by searching the wiki with the word squid you would have found this : http://wiki.contribs.org/Squid

- Can i have my public site on SME server?
yes,
but you will first need this : http://wiki.contribs.org/SME_Server:Documentation:FAQ#External_DNS

Also take a look one by one at the links across the top of the Forums, there is a wealth of information behind all of those.

In particular see add on Contribs at
http://wiki.contribs.org/Category:Contrib
and look at Dansguardian for your (squid & more) user access needs

and Howtos at
