Post by: Bo Hermannsen on July 24, 2002, 12:54:48 AM
my pc is an old one, but it can run a redhat 7.3

then i found e-smith... much better distro...

but when i use a bootdisk for the inst. i stops and says...

VFS: Can not openroot device 08:42
Kernel Panic: VFS: Unable to mount root fs on 08:42

any ideas what's wrong?

Hi,

I have same thing with a very old PC: Pentium MMX 166 with SCSI AHA1542C and 1Gb HDD.

My problem is that install cannot find HDD to install!´

Could you boot from CD? If yes, use "accept dd" to put a disk with drivers (You must use rawrite to write it from /images on CD!) and LOTS of different hardware (including SCSI) will work!

If you cannot boot from CD, WE have a problem. My still unsolved.
Please give much more details about your hardware!

See you!
