Title: user shared folder
Post by: bangkero on September 27, 2012, 01:49:32 AM
Hi Guys,

I'm using SME Server 8 as domain controller.  My users can login to any computers connected to the domain/workgroup and automatically they have shared folder map in drive z:

My question is how can i backup user's map shared folder automatically?

Regards,

Users home folders are included in standard sme server backups.

If you do not know where to setup the automatic backup, look in the server manager Backup or restore panel, and PLEASE read the Manual, linked at top of Forum.

For some more general information about backups and what is included by default, see the Howto titled "Backup server config.
A link to the Howto's is also at the top of the Forums.

I think he's asking how to backup the mapped folder, as in, when the computer restarts and the user logs in again, they sometimes lose there mapped network drives.
I know I've had this problem before, I just don't remember the solution. Well, my initial started with "netlogon" and http://wiki.contribs.org/Smeserver-tw-logonscript

Which is more likely a networking issue (ie you are unwisely relying on Windows persistent drive mappings) and/or a wrongly setup drive mapping netlogon file. You do not need to install a seperate login contrib as a netlogon.bat file comes supplied with sme server, just use it, located in /home/e-smith/files/samba/netlogon
