Hi guys,
as a newcomer to all this, im struggling a little with setting up a media server. I have configured my server so that it now works properly, but the primary use for this is as somewhere to dump all my personal media.
is there an easy way to do this?

yes, of course.. but first of all you should tell us what kind of media server, what client are you willing to use and so on..
please remember: we are not near you, we don't see your monitor, we don't hear you.. if you want help, please help us to help you
ops, I forgot: no crystal ball here, no one.. ;-)

ok... here goes...
I am a keen photographer (i didnt say good, just keen). The camera I use has a decent resolution, so I am constantly clogging up laptops and home computers with stacks of pictures...
what I want to achieve is to have a central media server which i can use to store mainly photographs, and maybe some music on. I would like to be able to access it anywhere via the internet.
I have an old box set up at home running sme server 7.6 (which thanks to this forum is now working properly) which is on a wired broadband connection.
I can now access my server from other computers on the same local network, but dont really know enough to move on from here...
please bear in mind that i am new to all this....
kind regards
chris

HTH
P.S.: there are other possible solutions like:
- ftp access
- sftp access
etc etc..

this would be perfect, however im using 7.6 for which this says its unusable.
